With 176 verses, Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible. Structured as a poem, the Psalm has 22 stanzas, each beginning with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Each stanza has eight lines, all of which begin with the same letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Of course, the poetic form is lost in the translation, but the power of the words remain. Psalm 119 is in praise of the Glories of God’s Law. I urge you to take the time to read it. It is a honest prayer and praise for God's Word to help, save, comfort, and defend His beloved children.
The song of the week, "Thy Word" written by Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith is based on Psalm 119:105. It is a poignant reminder that even in the darkest times, God's Word lights our way. He loves us too much to keep us wandering alone in the dark.
